The other day I saw where this beautiful little girl that I have photograph so much over her lifetime turn 9 years old. I couldn't believe it had that much time really passed since I photographed her parent's together for their maternity session. To this day, this is one of my most favorite images from a maternity session.
I really enjoyed photographing this sweet girl for her senior sessions. She reminded me a lot of myself and the road that I had been on until I was able to take the reigns for my life and take over my future. Her smile just says it all. Best wishes to a great future full of out of this world experiences.
I'm a HUGE fan of polyvore.com and pinterest when looking for ways to style or get outfit inspiration for sessions. I love all of the choices at my finger tips to put any theme or outfit together to make a fabulous finished session.
This is one of my most favorite outfit compilations of timeless style that will fit any year.

I am so excited to announce that I have officially moved my studio operations to THE awesome downtown of Waxahachie, TX! I have teamed up with a photographer friend of mine, Stephanie Rippe! Our new space is called The Photography Studio Collaborative!!
This is a DREAM COME TRUE!
All studio photography appointments will take place there, as well as consultations, and ordering appointments. My "office" will stay at home in Arlington...for now. On location sessions will take place that best suits the type of session clients are expecting. But, just let me tell you, WAXAHACHIE is AWESOME for downtown sessions! There are boutiques filled with awesome clothes, shops that we can find the perfect props and so many photography opportunities! Stephanie and I will be painting backgrounds on our outside walls and we have so many other plans for our space and growing in Waxahachie! I feel at home in Waxahachie. I know I'm supposed to be there.
Come by and see me sometime!
Hi Seniors! There are so many things to get ready for your senior year and senior portraits are at the top of your list. Without the portraits you can't complete ads for the football program, the senior pages in the back of the yearbook from mom and dad, sorority/fraternity applications require photos and the best part is you need to celebrate YOU.
Today, I want to talk about the myths that surround Senior Portraits. You hear these "facts" from so and so and they already had their senior portraits done by the school's photographer. I know, because I was once a "school photographer" for several high schools and I remember all the things that people use to say and ask about their senior portraits.
5. I have to use the contracted school photographer for my fun and casual portraits.
No, you do not have to go with the contracted photographer that is hired by the school to photograph the tuxedo and drape images for the yearbook. They are under contract to do no more/no less.
4. If I don’t use the school photographer, they will not put my photo in the yearbook.
This is a tactic that is used to entice you to use their services. This keeps you from searching for a senior portrait photographer that better serves your needs for what you would like your senior portraits to look like.
3. I don’t have time to use an outside photographer.
Sure it is more convenient to not have to shop around. All you need is a few hours in your schedule for the consultation, session and order appointment. Sessions are available on weekends and in the evenings during the week. I can even do the order appointment in your own home.
2. I have to spend $$$$ to get nice portraits done.
While custom senior portraits and products are specifically designed for each individual senior, we always strive to give you the best for your investment. We offer payment plans, as well as, accept all major credit cards.
1. I never look good in photos anyway.
Nothing is further from the truth! You have to make sure you are prepared for your senior session. At the senior consultation I will go over all the steps to help you gather props, outfits, and tips for make-up/hygiene.
If you are ready to schedule a consultation for your senior portraits you can contact us HERE.

As a business owner it is hard to separate creative decisions from business decisions. I have struggled in the past to find a happy medium between the two. I have stayed away from what others are doing and what I'm doing to separate myself from other photographers. That is the thing you hear so often, be yourself, do what you want, don't copy the person next to you if you want to stay competitive. In recent years, I would find a prop that I love and buy it. The next day a photographer down the street is posting her image with that same prop and I'm fearful to post my images that I have taken that would be considered as "copying". Copying is not good, but what hasn't been copied?
Oh and how I dare not show my country side, someone might not like me because I have an accent or wear boots. Just the most silly things I can think of that cross my mind that I restrict showing about me and what I do because I thought it was a good business decision. I'm tired of not doing what I want with MY business and hiding behind those "business" decisions.
I'm tired of not showing ME. I don't specialize in one particular genre of photography. I love IT ALL. My husband witnesses me getting grumpy if I haven't photographed something in a day or two. He'll tell me to go take photos of grass just to put me in a good mood. Change puts me in a good mood. Changing my logo lately made me feel so much better about my entire life. Weird, I know, but that old logo was about a trend, looking swirly and elegant, but still bold.
My new logo is about me, my favorite colors, photography and guess what it is still BOLD. Very bold. It has paint and a hand-drawn camera, my two favorite things to be creative with. This takes me back to square one, why I went out on my own after having my daughter. To not work for others, but for myself. To paint backgrounds, build props, and explode creativity through out my business, home....my LIFE.
I create vision boards that are on my wall of things I see in magazines that inspire me and I have yet to do any of the ideas that come to mind, because I have been fearful that it isn't a good business decision. You know what else isn't a good business decision???? Being FEARFUL.
The FEAR stops HERE. I'm more than ready.
If you read this far, thank you.
Peace and Photography, KellyO.
